REPORT

Shimizu S—Pulse are confirming their new good form and reached the last 16 competing for the Emperor’s Cup for the second consecutive year by beating a pugnacious giant-killer Iwasaki FC which has nothing to lose and everything to win.

S-Pulse showed their professional clinical approach by snatching a goal on the first occasion with Yu Hasegawa catching the defense cold by back heading a long throw over everyone. But goal keeper Rokutan soon had to show his talents to keep Iwaki at bay. The first half ended on a somewhat muted note with S-Pulse dangerously caught off guard.

After soaking early pressure S-Pulse distanced themselves with a fine long range goal by Ryo Takeuchi following some good work by CHONG Tese. After that S-Pulse took a more relaxed approach and should have added at least one more goal, proving the gap between professional and semi amateur clubs.

S-Pulse made sure there would no more giant-killing in this year Emperor’s Cup edition and are looking forward to going as far as possible and show the whole country they are slowly but steadily becoming a force to be reckoned with!
