REPORT
Renaissance?

In spite of the trauma caused by a change of head coach, Shimizu S-Pulse finally played according to their potential in the same aggressive manner displayed for most of the season but with more maturity.

Their opponent of the day Vissel Kobe always seems to come at the most important moment of the season, and this was probably the most important match in the search for a new style and building next year’s team in far more arduous conditions than this year perturbed by the Covid pandemic.

The first half was more or less shared but in the 32nd minute S-Piulse conceded a soft goal when they failed to clear a corner kick and leave all the time for a Vissel back to score from long range with no opposition.

In the second half S-Pulse upped the tempo and aggressivity. In the 52nd minute Goto almost from long range after the ball had been wrestled out in Vissel’s half. In the 60th minute S-Pulse finally equalized in their typical manner when Valdo jumped high to connect with Nishizawa’s perfect corner kick. In the 62th minute Umeda had to extend himself for a fine safe to keep S-Pulse’s momentum.

In an almost perfect copy of Goto’s attempt S-Pulse once again wrestled the ball out in Vissel’s half before Nishizawa again made the perfect pass to an unmarked Elsinho who made no mistake for its first goal of the season.

In the 80th minute a dangerous cross from Nishizawa again stretched Vissel’s defense. In the 81st minute rookie Suzuki came close to score his first goal for his new club. And for the third time Nishizawa had a hand in a goal in the 86th minute when his perfect free kick was headed in by Kanai for the third goal scored by S-Pulse’s backs.

Next game will be against a difficult defensive team in the name of Cerezo Osaka on Saturday November 14th at home! Fans can reasonably expect a second consecutive win!
