REPORT

So close and still so far! The third draw in a row!

On the day S-Pulse was facing this year newly-crowned J! League Champions they graciously offered a guard of honor to before observing a minute of silence for the departure from this world of a universally famous soccer star.

They showed no complex and pressured their opponents form the very beginning to finally succeed in the 11th minute to steal the ball which was first sent by Renato to Carlinhos who sent Nishizawa running around the Frontale’s defense before sending a low cross which was held by Takeuchi to Carlinhos who made no mistake in one of the season’s most fluent goals of the year.

But Shimizu is Shimizu and they conceded another soft goal in the 19th minute with defenders defending with their backs rather than their feet.

They nonetheless continued to attack and in the 40th minute it was the turn of Frontale to concede a soft goal with a pack of players failing to clear the ball before Renato somehow luckily pushed the ball through.

Both teams continued to attack in a very entertaining game and both hit the bar.

Shimizu S-Pulse seemed to have won a famous victory when in the last minutes they conceded another soft goal looking at their opponents’ passing.

A frustrating result, and the third one in a row to boot, but S-Pulse is on the right path. Next year will definitely see another season for the pleasure of their fans, but there will be still some momentous changes.

They next face a dangerous opponent in the persons of Kashima Antlers in a long trip on the other side of Tokyo. One of the few chances left to earn their spot in next year’s team!
