REPORT
It is tough to be on the losing side of an exciting new style derby, the “Ozzie Derby”, won by the senior over his junior. And it is tough to play an attacking style in front of limited crowds. It is as if you played on a neutral venue all the time! Being televised live as well does not help either!

Last game’s great defense was not up to par this time and all goals were soft ones with defense and goalkeeper alike out of position and as if Marinos knew exactly how and where to trick a S-Pulse’s defense lacking its usual aggressivity.

In the 2nd minute the whole defense looked at a sole Marinos attacker dribble and run past everyone before squeezing his shot within the far post. Nishizawa scored a fine goal from mid-range but he was gifted all the time possible on that occasion. In the 19th minute the S-Pulse’s defense was caught flat-footed on a corner kick that their superior height should have safely cleared. On the 43rd minute Marinos’ defender found no better way than to clear a Kaneko’s cross directly into his own net.

The second half was a bit quiet until the last 10 minutes when S-Pulse’s defense started falling at the seams. They gave away two quick soft goals in the 84th and 86t minute. The whole team did courageously go back on the attack and were rewarded with a goal from another corner kick.

Actually, all the day’s goals were somewhat gifted. It just happened they went the wrong way for S-Pulse. But for once their defense was simply out of sorts. This is a game which should have been won with just a little more aggressivity and concentration in defense.

Well, I suppose this will become a good lesson in the end and part of the learning a new style which is not yet fully digested. On Saturday they will have to prove their worth at home against another team from the same city, namely Yokohama FC!
