REPORT

A very important victory achieved away in a hotly disputed derby!

S-Pulse was still beset with many absent regular members, but young players and new recruits did work well although this win could and should have finished in a higher score for Shimizu who had twice as many chances and shots on target.

The first half was particularly exciting with both finishing on an equal par.

Jubilo actually had the first shot at goal in the 3rd minute.

But in the 5th minute Kamiya could have scored twice in a row.

S-Pulse were the first to score in the 9th minute when Kamiya’s superb pass found Yuito Suzuki who sprinted past the last defender before coolly finishing the move with a splendid goal.

But the rest of the first half basically belonged to Jubilo, but they also got their first yellow card.

In the 23rd minute Jubilo finally equalized with a slightly lucky but well-deserved goal when their forward somehow managed to put a foot to the ball following and excellent pass to lob a helpless Gonda.

They had three more chances at goal before half time and should have scored in the 32nd minute when only a poor finish saved S-Pulse.

On the other hand, the second half once again proved that S-Pulse are slow starters but once the engine has finally reeved up, they can become relentless.

That is when Jubilo lost the plot and became too prone to indiscipline, and in some cases guilty of brutalities.

In the 51st minute Taki wasted a good chance to score but in the 57th minute S-Pulse took the lead with a fine middle-range shot by Nakayama who had replaced an injured Kolloli after some fine pass work outside the box.

In the 29th minute a Jubilo player got a second yellow card and had to leave the field after another reckless tackle.

4 minutes later a Jubilo forward was shown a straight red card after an ugly arm into the face of a Shimizu defender.

In the 87th minute Nakayama had another chance at goal.

One minute later Yuito Suzuki’s shot was denied by a great save by the Jubilo Goalkeeper.

In the 90th minute a Jubilo defender was lucky to escape with only a yellow card after another reckless challenge.

In extra time young Kuribara was offered his first chance to play in the J1 League and almost scored in the following minute.

A good win, but S-Pulse will have to work on better starts and on converting more chances into goals.

Next game is at home against J2 League Tokushima Vortis for the 2nd game of the YBC Levain Cup. Another chance for young players and recruits to prove their worth!
