REPORT

A game to forget as soon as possible.

The conditions were not favorable. One of the best teams in the J1 League to confront with most strikers and game players missing and the bodies and minds still not recovering from the precious away win pulled off against fellow strugglers Ventforet Kofu last weekend.

The first half saw an incessant domination from Kawasaki stretching S-Pulse flanks with speed and accuracy. S-Pulse tried their best to contain these constant forays but two easy goals were conceded and their opponents were too good at keeping the ball from them. S-Pulse still managed to get a couple of good chances but that would have been against the run of play.

The second half was almost a copy of the first in spite of early substitutions. S-Pulse courageously fought with the unending support of their fans but they were too flat-footed and unimaginative in attack and always vulnerable to sharp counter attacks which saw one of them add another easy goal. Thiago Alves could have saved the honors with a well taken direct free kick but the Kawasaki goal keeper produced the save of the day to frustrate Shimizu further.

A disappointing but predictable result and Kawasaki showed the gap still existing between top and bottom of the table. But let’s be positive and hope that our favorite players will bite the bit and show a more aggressive and determined character during the most important part of the season!

S-Pulse are still 7 points clear of the relegation zone with 8 games left. But the card is favorable with 4 games against bottom teams, 3 of them at home. Winning those 4 games will be then imperative and sufficient. The fans will have a preponderant role in this battle!
