For once Lady Luck smiled on Shimizu S-Pulse!

Truth to tell all the S-Pulse players worked hard to please her until the last second!

After a good enough start, Consadole who had packed the midfield with no less than 8 players to disturb S-Pulse’s strategy found their way in the 24^th with a fast counter n a lost ball. But S-Pulse kept pushing hard, sometimes a bit clumsily, and their efforts were awarded in the dying seconds of the first half with an excellent goal who nicely combined with 18-year old Nishimura.

That late goal certainly affected Consadole’s plans who had to face the music in the second half until Tese headed a sweet goal on Hyodo’s corner kick in the 68^th minute. On the other hand the northern guys attacked again with doubled ferocity and it became a tooth and nail battle for the S-Pulse defense to the point that Freire had to be put in in the last to preserve the advantage until the final whistle. S-Pulse notably had to be thankful for two last gap parades from Nishibe, their veteran goalkeeper.

Team Manager Jōnsson had special praise for veterans, Tese in particular, and the young players, especially Nishimura, for their loyalty and hard work, a comment that is fast becoming the new motto of the club!

Next is the second leg of the “Shizuoka Derby” against Jubilo Iwata to be held at Ecopa Stadium in Fukuroi City, a game closely watched all over the nation! Come in numbers to support our cherished team and players!
