REPORT

So close and still so far!

Last year’s lambs have turned into a pack of wolves.Last year at this point in the season S-Pulse had the same tally but this is now an entirely different team.

It is a team that does not give up and every member brings his own stone to the edifice. To start with, the defense reinforced by Hwang and a Freire that was practically not used last year has an average height well over 180 cm and with forwards Duke and Freire more than willing to contribute their height and heart to this barrier on all corner kicks and dangerous free kicks it is steadily building a reputation of a stolid wall.

Last year S-Pulse conceded no less than 10 goals in 3 matches to Jubilo. This year after 2 games their nemesis has not managed to break it yet. Jubilo’s shots to might have been many but all were either off target or too weak to beat Rokutan, whereas S-Pulse could have well finished with at least 2 goals had it not been for a post and a missing extra inch frustrating Ishige on both occasions at the beginning and end of the game.

S-Pulse players’ reactions after the game were made crystal clear during the post-match interview as typified by Kaneko who was certainly not satisfied with having brought back a precious point.

Look forward to a sustained assault at V-Varen Nagasaki’s goal this Wednesday at IAI Nihondaira Stadium!
