So near and still so far!
Last Sunday we had finally got rid of a jinx by beating a nemesis since 2014 to only found a new one! Last year we were leading 2-0 with 20 minutes left to finally lose the game. This year at home we could only draw after missing a penalty, and today…
The plan was there and very well executed. In the first half we already should have scored twice why Kashima only had one chance after a rare S-Pulse’s defense blunder. In the second half Kitagawa and Duke hit the woodwork and Kaneko came close. We should have led by at least by 3 goals when we reached additional time.
S-Pulse players and management had reasons to feel aggrieved, but it will give them plenty of encouragement before they meet another nemesis next Saturday at home, namely Kawasaki Frontale.
Let’s hope that this time the stadium will be full to the brim of S-Pulse supporters. Their team deserves their encouragement!
