REPORT
Unlucky draw!
Another frustrating but encouraging result.

Three times S-pulse concede a lead and three times they gritted their way back with three fine goals before at last taking the lead through a deserved penalty kick only to see their efforts undone by a “penalty kick”.

Coach Jan Anders Jōnsson was understandably not happy about the latter issue but was full of praise for his team which showed stolid determination and passion to manage four fine goals in spite of missing three key players in each line of their set-up through injuries and suspension sustained in another unhappy drawn game the Saturday before.

This last match of the season was a typical example of the present campaign. S-Pulse finished at the 8th spot of the top Japanese Football League, a great improvement on last year’s narrow escape from relegation, but still a disappointment caused by uncontrolled forces.

Nonetheless the future certainly looks bright with a comparatively young team built on the 2nd attack of the League led for the first time in 20 years by three players, Kitagawa, Douglas and Kaneko scoring 10 or more goals in the same season. The same three players are not only strikers but play their roles on all corners of the ground to help their midfield which probably needs one more fast central specialist and a vastly improved but still perfectible defense holding up so much better than last year. Actually the main feature of this year is the advent a compact team which can easily moves from defense to attack and vice versa. The experience garnered this year will make the difference in the very near future. The fans can expect a more mature team surer of its capabilities especially if they show more ruthlessness as part of their entertaining way of play.

2019 hold so many promises and it will take us a lot of patience to be able to wait until next season kickoff in February!

But keep your eyes and ears open for more interesting announcements before then!
