REPORT
The dark series continues! But there are some encouraging positives.

The game provided the occasion to use young players, members who had sent on the bench and more coming back from injury. Kamata had his first game in two years having recovered from serious injuries in both knees and Takeuchi was given the opportunity to reassess his body after last week’s. Renato finally had the chance to show his worth and young players in the persons of Taki and Takahashi were able to display their ability.

Matsumoto, having probably learnt from Gamba’s tactics last Saturday, applied an all-out pressure to force mistakes, and they succeeded in the very fifth minute when they exploited a defense trying to come back to a 4-4-2 strategy instead of the new 3-6-1. They should have cleared the attack early enough but instead allowed a cross on their left that found an opponent having all the time to fire home. The first half continued in the same pattern but S-Pulse somehow managed to survived thanks to Nishibe’s keeping and some lucky.

The second half witnessed a better overall play which was concreted into a finely built up move using both wings to be finally shot home by Renato for his first goal in his first pitch appearance for S-Pulse which should give him a good chance to start soon or later in the company of Captain Takeuchi.

S-Pulse tried their best to take over the lead but failed and a tired defense let in a goal in the dying minutes which could and should have been avoided.

Some people will conclude that it is one more adverse result in the beginning of the season but the attitude of the players showed there is not much needed to find the winning path again.

Next game is for the Meiji Yasuda J1 League on a faraway trip to Sapporo, a game which might well see some changes in the composition of the starting team! Exciting prospects!
