REPORT
Inefficiency! The game was lost and won after only 16 minutes.

For the first 15 minutes S-Pulse had a great game and had no less than 6 chances at scoring. But they did not.On the 16th minute FC Tokyo had their first chance and scored. An easy goal incidentally as the S-Pulse’s defense just watched Nagai attempt a medium-range shot unopposed. After that FC Tokyo contented themselves to control the game scoring another soft goal on the 30th minute.

S-Pulse worked hard at the impossible task to pull back a goal or two but it was fraught with danger as FC Tokyo, a team typical of the J1 League cared little at playing pleasant football. S-Pulse somehow did not concede any further goal but worried their opponents only on rare occasions.

Shimizu S-Pulse is a rare team trying to play a pleasant game to be enjoyed by all while most of their opponents care only about results, and the latter are good at it, unfortunately.

There is very little between the top and bottom teams of the J1 League and the only way for S-Pulse to succeed is to find a balance between a pleasant way of playing and efficiency. Last year things started going for the better with the arrival of Douglas in summer. We can reasonably hope it will happen again this year! But before that, S-Pulse has another perilous game to play away in Yokohama!
