REPORT
Collective failure… Except for the incredible S-Pulse fans who kept screaming encouragements until the last second of their horrendous ordeal!

Mind you, the signs were not good even before starting the game. S-Pulse had just come back from a long trip to
Kyushu Island only two days before in the heat of a passing typhoon while their opponents had spent a week in comparatively coolness. The first half had not been bad and could have been different. The first goal was a comedy of errors after a weak clearing punch which nonetheless should have been cleared. Then happened an incident that would bear even more weight on the further proceedings: Consadole’s Jay was only yellow-carded after punching his opponent. Sometime later he was allowed a free header which was S-Pulse’s fault but his obscene gesture to the local fans was ignored. He later kicked a ball away which had been placed for a free quick and escaped scot free.

The second half saw a hellish pattern of S-Pulse going for another attack, miss a chance, lose the ball to a counter and concede a soft goal again and again with the open boulevard left all the players committed to save their honor. It could have been worse if Consadole’s attack had actually not missed at least four more easy chances.

In all truth this horror show could be dismissed as a freak result due to the hard conditions and what else. S-Pulse will have first to forget this as a passing nightmare, regroup and come up with a different strategy. Otherwise we are in for a long season. But the fans think differently and the players and the club can count on their support! They certainly will need it during the following games, all difficult as there is actually little separating top teams from bottom strgllers!
