REPORT

The jinx is still not broken!

But this time S-Pulse players have only themselves to blame!

The small crowd for J1 League was no help either. Apparently people preferred to watch the match live on TV… I sincerely hope the lesson will be learnt even for those who booed the team on their way to the showers.

The first half, in Team Manager Jōnsson’s own admission was bad. Passes seem to go astray all the time and the players were not fighting as a unit. Truth to tell, the World Cup has forced a hellish schedule onto all clubs with the consequent unpredictable results all through the League but Jōnsson said this was no excuse. The team had to experiment for the future weeks but this time it did not work. The second half was a lot better and the equalization came very near in spite of the incessant efforts of all team members who were not really understood by the watching crowd who still bears the scars of last year. But a club is not a team, it is players, men and ladies in charge, volunteers and all the fans!

Next match will see the team go onto a perilous trip to face Urawa Reds in a hostile environment but I’m confident they will redeem themselves!
