REPORT
A great win but a bit messy in the end!

The day was certainly replete with plenty of excitement!

Early in the game S-Pulse were denied a clear cut penalty for handling but almost immediately after, in the 23rd minute, Freire obtained a “compensation” penalty that Kitagawa duly converted. The first half had been even balanced until the 40th minute when Crislan was needlessly brought down by a clumsy tackle for a second penalty. Crislan made no mistake and S-Pulse were more than happy to lead by 2 goals at half time.

The second half started with two killer counters with Crislan assisting both goals first by heading down to Kitagawa whose diving header found its way into a narrow gap in the 52nd minute followed by the next counter two minutes later when Crislan served the perfect cross for Kaneko to slot the ball into an empty goal.

S-Pulse then slacked off a bit to allow Shonan’s all-out attack. That was when things started to get sour. In the 66th minute an unlucky rebound went the wrong way and 4 minutes later Matsubara received a second yellow card. S-Pulse then had to switch on to a grim defense bringing in the heights of Futami, Tastuta and even Duke to repulse no less than 13 consecutive corner kicks with the help of at least 3 great saves by goalkeeper Rokutan. On the only counter S-Pulse could muster Kaneko somehow failed to push the ball into an empty goal from a few meters that would have killed the game for good. But the defense held until the 4th minute of additional time when another scrappy goal was allowed in.

For all the fear in the second half Team Manager Jőnsson was almost 100% satisfied with a team slowly but steadily improving and players playing more and more intelligently with every game.

The next game will take place in Sapporo on Wednesday for a Leavain Cup game!
