REPORT
A lot of hard work left!
The kind of match you do not know whether you have to take seriously enough.

The Levain Cup has always more or less been used for “practice” after all. The team fielded was not as strong as expected, especially when compared with that of Kawasaki Frontale. The players seemed completely at a loss during the first 10 minutes when the score could have been 4-0 instead of only 1-0.

The S-Pulse defense left open wide boulevards on both sides where the Frontale forwards ran into with glee. S-Pulse did well to concede only 2 goals during the first half. They reacted well enough in the second half with a fine goal by Ishige thanks to substitute Nakamura’s work with young Nishimura. But the last 15 minutes and extra time became a real torture when an exhausted team let in 3 more soft goals.

All in all they shared the number of free kicks and corner kicks but allowed twice as many shots at goal. There are many ways to comment on such a match and team’s display.

On the negative side some players missed a chance to establish themselves and we could be in for some drastic changes. Players have not digested the new 4-3-3 strategy yet and passes and balls were too easily given away.

On the positive side errors become good study and the players fielded next time know too well they will have to improve quickly or else.

In any case the next match is a totally different proposition being a League game played at home. Let us hope that the fans will have reasons to rejoice and look forward to a bright future!
