REPORT

A very valuable win that gives us some breathing space away from the relegation danger zone! But it was a seesaw game not for the weak hearts!

We could have won the game 4-0 if we had taken all our chances or lost it 3-1 but for Gonda’s two super saves and Takeuchi clearance on the goal line!

In the 10th minute an attack on the right side following a long pass ahead ended up in the perfect cross by Hara only to see Santana’ efforts repulsed twice by Oita’s last-ditch defense. In the 21st minute Gonda had to make his first save to parry a long-range shot.

In the 50th minute Santana could have done better after S-Pulse somehow stole the ball from Oita’s defense. In the 67th minute Nishizawa’s corner kick found Katayama’s stretched foot only to be barely punched away by the goalkeeper but Valdo did well to control the rebound and send back a low cross that Hara somehow converted through a crowd of players.

In the 88th minute Gonda produced a second great save to keep his slate clean when he palmed out a deadly heading at the end of a good move by Oita.

In the following corner Oita almost equalized after S-Pulse could not clear the ball away but Takeuchi somehow kicked the ball away on his goal line after it bounced twice off Oita’s forwards.

On the following quick break Hara sent the perfect cross to an unmarked Disaro whose powerful heading unfortunately flew directly to the Oita’s goalkeeper.

Next game will be an away fixture in an unusual place, namely Morioka, against Grulla Morioka of the J3 League for the 3rd Round of the Emperor’s Cup. Let’s hope S-Pulse will take the game seriously enough to proceed further to the fourth round where a gargantuan opponent is waiting for them!
