REPORT

Shimizu S-Pulse suffered a lot from the mountain of injuries that do not seem to abate preventing turnovers for needed rests. Moreover, they were facing a top team which had just come back from a hiding and keen on immediate revenge on their own turf.

The first half proved to be a sorry one with a flat-footed defense unable to cash on occasional interceptions. The very5th minute was a typical example when the defense twice lost a ball they had intercepted and on Gonda prevented a goal with a fine dive.

They had a chance in the 9th minute after a long throw-in but it was hopelessly waste.

In the 23rd minute a rare missed pass by Gonda was intercepted but luckily enough the ensuing shot went wide.

In the 33rdt minute once again a flat-footed defense left all the time in the world to a Marinos forward to curl in a long-range shot as in practice.

In the 35th minute S-Pulse was again lucky to narrowly escape another chance provided by the same flat-footed defense.

In the 41st minute a poorly cleared free kick could have been paid dearly.

S-Pulse had almost survived the first half with only one goal behind when in the 43rd minute they managed to give a was the stupid/fluke goal of the day when Tatsuta with all the time in the world saw his clearance blocked by a Marinos forward who could not believe his eyes when the ball bounced away from a bemused Gonda.

S-Pulse had managed only one poor shot at goal while they were bombarded all the way.

But the second half was far more balanced

They actually dominated the last 20 minutes and had no less than three chances that went desperately amiss.

Actually, the team is to be recommended for not giving up and there were a lot of pluses in that second half. All in all, one could say that luck could have changed the issue of that game but for errors that gave the game away.

But we will need these injuries to recover quickly!

Next game is at home against Cerezo Osaka, a team we beat to escape relegation.

Let us hope that this time we will win for a better continuation of the season!
