REPORT

Grim story. We just somehow managed to unearth our old demons and succeeded to lose a game we had dominated all day long!

We dominated possession, chances and shots to goal and even obtained a numerical advantage for the last 25 minutes to end with nothing but a bad taste in the mouth.

In the 5th minute Shirasaki could not find the target after being left alone to shot just from outside the box.

In the 6th minute Inui could not replicate the goal that won the last game in almost identical fashion.

In the 36th minute we were lucky not to concede a goal after a very poor pass interception.

In the 47th minute Carlinhos wasted a simple chance after finding himself one on one after the perfect pass by Pikachu

In the 52th minute nor Santana nor Inui could convert Hara’s excellent cross

In the 64th minute Sanfrecce was re-carded for a foul that cynically prevented S-Pulse to use an open boulevard to goal.

In the 70th minute Santana wasted another good opportunity

In the 83rd minute S-Pulse gave away a ball through sheer clumsiness to make a gift of a goal to Sanfrecce against the run of play

To add insult to injury in the 95th minute a last attack by S-Pulse was repulsed with all the players in the Sanfrecce half and the last defender managing to lob Gonda from the medium line having spotted the S-Pulse keeper completely out of position to support his team’s last attack.

The better team by far did not win the game, but we have only ourselves to blame for wasting so many occasions and giving away silly goals to an opponent who could not believe their luck.

Let us hope that S-Pulse will re-group and win a very important game at home against fellow struggles Shonan Belmare in what is sometimes called the “Shirasu Derby!
