REPORT
The boos from the angry Shimizu S-Pulse fans after the final whistle really hurt…
The more for it that it happened to the ears of the first full house of the year…
12 draws and many losses conceded in the last 15 minutes with many of them in the last minutes or in additional time.
This is not a jinx any more, it is simply down to a guilty lack of motivation and mental stamina.
A harsh comment? No, because we have always proven we have the physical ability and skills of a better team.
We started well enough and could have scored in the 2nd minute.
In the 19th minute we missed two great consecutive chances to be followed by an even greater chance missed through dismal finishing.
We finally managed to score a scrappy goal when Santana slotted in a corner kick that was never cleared by Iwata.
But after that we just abandoned the initiative to Jubilo during too long periods.
Jubilo wasted a good chance in the 70th minute.
Carlinhos should have killed the game in the 75th minute but his shot was saved by great goal keeping.
In the 78th minute Yoshinori Suzuki barely missed a heading from a corner kick.
In the 92nd minute we paid dearly for all our misses through the softest goal ever with S-Pulse defenders doing their best to miss every chance for a simple clearance.
The very next minute Santana missed another golden chance.
We could have lost the game in the 95th minute if Jubilo had been more adroit.
And to add insult to injury, Santana missed again a difficult chance in the very last second after a quick counter.
Truth be told we threw away too many chances and the game again, but that is what makes the difference between a mediocre team and a great one!
Now, we have our backs to the wall and must absolutely win our next game at hoe against a real nemesis in the name of Kashima Antlers!
Let us hope hat the long-suffering fans will have at last a chance to rejoice!
