REPORT

The litany continues…

We have one of the best defenses in the J 2 League but have the most underperforming attack…

It is not for a lack of trying, and in the whole game we still had 4 shots on target, a very frustrating performance but our opponents came up with none, meaning we should once again have won the game.

After both teams wasting half chances Gonda did well to frustrate an Oita attacker finding himself alone in front of him after a counter resulting from a midfield blunder in the 36th minute. But our goal keeper judged the situation well and forced the same attacker to lose the ball outside his own box. That proved to be the best chance for the opposition.

In first half extra time Kitagawa missed a golden opportunity finding himself facing the goalkeeper after a quick counter when the latter countered his kick outside the box.

In the 76th minute S-Pulse were unlucky to get a penalty kick on a 50-50 occasion.

In the 77th minute substitute Santana saw his sharp shot repulsed for lack of angle.

In the 74th minute S-Pulse failed in two successive attempts inside the box.

Another frustrating result which saw the Oita players falling on the ground into exhausted relief while Shimizu S-Pulse players slumped in disarray once again.

Well, the next game could define the rest of the season as it will feature the first of six derby matches, this time against old foes Jubilo Iwata inside the Ecopa Stadium in Fukuroi, which could well see the biggest crowd of the year for the J 2 League!
