REPORT
One of these days…
After such a long unbeaten streak players were pressured into scoring to prove their status as the top scoring team in the League.
In the end JEF United did not steal the game. We just gave it away after outrageously dominating most of the game with almost twice as many shots on targets, corner kicks.
In the 16th minute Nishizawa wasted a heading alone in front of goal after a good cross by Yoshida.
In the next minute it was the turn of Santana completely missing by meters a good mid-range opportunity.
Things came to worse when in the 30th minute JEF somehow managed to clear the ball off their very line.
WE had to wait 32 minutes before JEF had their first chance which was completely missed in the end.
In the 38th minute Kitazume provided a simple cross to Santana to head in but he somehow contrived to miss his target.
In the 58th minute S-Pulse’s poor defense almost gave away a goal but the ball flew past the far post by centimeters.
In the 62nd minute a great attack by S-Pulse became the epitome of the day when Nakayama finding himself alone facing the goal keeper kicked over the bar from meters away from the goal.
In the 75th minute a ball poorly passed by S-Pulse could have ended in a goal but the last shot flew over Gonda’s bar.
4 minutes later S-Pulse had a dangerous free kick a few meters away from the box but the last heading hopelessly rolled past a beaten goal keeper and the far post.
And in the 87th minute we simply gifted the winner when on a long throw S-Pulse’s defense twice miserably failed to clear the ball twice in a row before serving it on a plate to an unbelieving JEF United team.
It took a long time for JEF players to realize they had performed the steal of the day and it took even longer for S-Pulse to understand why they had lost a game they should have taken easily.
Well, we will have to forget all that on Sunday when our best attack of the League will face the best defense of the League in the guise of Machida on their ground who are also the leaders of the League!
