REPORT

We might have suffered from bad luck in the last two games, but this time we certainly cannot complain!

In a game when we were dominated in all stats but less in reality we managed to score the sole goal of the day and come off with a very important away win that keeps us within 6 points of the second automatic promotion spot!

Interestingly enough, the three representative clubs of Shizuoka Prefecture all won away on that day!

In front of a pitifully small crowd and in inclement weather the defense held well enough, the more for it that they were more exposed to attacks as regular midfielders Inui and Shirasaki were missing. But replacements, especially rookie Takagi, did well enough to help the team wait for the occasion to strike.

In the 16th minute uncertain defense allowed the first serious chance to Kumamoto but their last shot was too weak and direct to Gonda.

In the 21st minute uncertain defense again allowed a dangerous cross from our left but our opponents’ last shot flew just above the bar.

The 34th minute saw S-Pulse’s first serious attack but Carlinhos’ attempt from a long range shot directly to the opposite keeper.

In the 44th minute Kumamoto’s dangerous cross from our left flank was headed towards goal before Gonda palmed the ball over the bar.

In the 46th minute Miyamoto’s shot after a long throw-in weakly defended by Kumomoto unfortunately hit the bar.

In the 55th minute S-Pulse’s clumsy defense allowed a clear shot to Kumamoto from mid-range but the ball flew straight to Gonda.

Shimizu S-Pulse started then to dominate a tiring Kumamoto team and in the 72nd minute Carlinhos saw two powerful successive shots being parried within seconds.

In the 75th minute S-Pulse again lived dangerously but Kumamoto’s last shot just flew outside the right post.

Finally, in the 82nd minute S-Pulse broke the deadlock with first Carlinhos inheriting of a pass on the left flank to dribble into the box before seeing his acute angle shot repulsed by the opposite goalkeeper. The rebound was moved to the right side before a good cross found Carlinhos’ head which was again blocked by the goal keeper, but in the ensuing scramble Carlinhos managed to tap in with his third attempt. Carlinhos is definitely striking form of late and certainly never gives up. The Man of the Day!

This important win could not come at a better time as we will take a small break because of the last Ybc Levain Cup match in Group B on Sunday.

Do not forget that if we win that game we will progress to the playoffs. Now, what kind of team are we going to field, then?
