REPORT

So close, and yet so far!

At one time, in the 90th minute we actually qualified for the play off, but Kawasaki won their game in extra time and we were eliminated on goal average in spite of having one more win than the winner of the group!

All that because we threw away the 3rd and 4th game fielding 2nd and 3rd-string players. We fielded almost full-strength teams in the last two games but our opponents from the above league took it all more seriously, and in the process avoiding a bad surprising giant-killer!

All in all, we played well enough in front of a surprisingly big crowd, having almost the same number of shots on target and even more corner kicks.

Kitagawa scored a fine goal in the 33rd minute after controlling a centerfield long pass, but Urawa equalized in the 49th minute when we conceded an unlucky goal.

We never gave up and could well have scored in the dying minutes.

Well, this is the end of another adventure after our demise from the Emperor’s Cup, and we will have our hands free to concentrate on the battle for promotion.

At least we got some good experience and we should prove it on Sunday against Thespakusatsu Gunma in a difficult away game!
