REPORT
Back to normality with an expected but important win, especially in the light that our main rivals were limited to a result that provided us with the best advantages possible, including the immediate return to the top of J2 League!
This time, but we were home, we showed more constancy and efficiency although the score could a lot heavier against a team that will most probably be demoted.
Although we outrageously dominated in all departments it was Gunma who had the first chance of the game in the 6th minute when a long-range effort rolled dangerously close to Gonda’s right post.
In the 10th minute S-Pulse created their first opportunity with Kitagawa running past Gunma’s left flank From Hara’s long pass before crossing to Inui who unfortunately missed goal with a hurried volley.
But in the 20th minute Inui atoned for his miss by sweetly sending Carlinhos into the box for a simple goal.
In the 27th minute S-Pulse were somewhat lucky when a corner kick was directed outside the box for Uno to shoot a low middle-range attempt that evaded everyone on its way through a forest of legs.
On the other hand in the 41st minute, Carlinhos after doing all the good work in intercepting a lazy pass by the opposite goalkeeper could not convert his effort into the easiest of goals.
In the 44th minute some lazy defense by S-Pulse could have ended into a silly goal but for Gonda’s extended leg.
But in first half extra time it was the turn to Gunma to defend poorly a corner kick with Inui crossing to Hara for an excellent header that put the game on ice early.
In the next minute a sweet counter by S-Pulse ended Kitagawa making a mess of a great opportunity with only the goal keeper left to beat.
In the 50th minute a perfect cross into the box saw Sumiyoshi’s volley hit te bar from meters away.
In the 68th minute indifferent defense allowed Gunma to attempt a close enough short-range that fully extended Gonda into the save of the day.
In the 74th minute new recruit Yakub scored his first goal for S-Pulse with a great crossed low shot that beat the goalkeeper inside the far post.
S-Pulse still managed to miss two more easy goals before the end of the game.
On next Saturday S-Pulse will have to up the tempo, secure a still fragile defense and be more clinical on their chances at home against Kofu for the “Mount Fuji Derby”!
