REPORT
BIG WIN!
This third consecutive wins takes us to within 3 points of the 2nd automatic promotion spot by overcoming a direct rival on their ground.
We benefitted from a little more than half the possession and let only two shots on target but it was not a perfect game in any sense.
On the other hand, it became without a doubt Inui’s game!
The veteran is definitely enjoying a second life at S-Pulse!
S-Pulse dominated the beginning of the game and Inui had had two attempts at goal when in the 10th minute he had the intelligence and will to chase an overconfident opposite goal keeper and have him commit an enormous blunder and have his pass intercepted before Inui converted a simple gift of a goal.
In the 34th minute Oita ran past our left flank before sending a cross that was met meters from Gonda who somehow parried the ball away bfore the rebound was blocked in extremis.
In the 49th minute Oita attacked our box from our right flank before sending a cross that Suzuki was too slow to reach and leave an easy goal to the last Oita forward.
2 minutes later Oita made a long-range attempt that was barely foiled by the far post.
In the 56th minute Kitagawa should have scored following Nishizawa’ free kick and an ensuing great cross back in the box by Inui.
In the 63rd minute S-Pulse’s defense successfully repulsed a dangerous attack to end up with Inui getting the ball in his own half. He ran unopposed into the Oita side before delivering a superb curving shot into the right top corner of the goal for the goal of the day.
In the 66th minute a counter ended with Carlinhos passing to Shirasaki who fired meters away from goal at a very tight angle but it well parried by the opposite keeper.
In the 2nd minute of extra time a counter found Shirasaki running unopposed to a sure goal but the last defender managed to come back to him and bring him down with a cynical foul earning a straight red card but saving a sure goal. Fortunately, S-Pulse defended well the very long extra time for such an important win.
Now we will move to a game against JEF United held at the National Stadium in Tokyo as part of the 30th Anniversary of the Founding of the J League!
Time to impress everyone!
